Genesis has gone from an unfamiliar badge to a regular sight in Westchester in a remarkably short time. The GV70 and GV80 in particular have found a real audience between Scarsdale, Harrison and Rye — people who wanted the equipment level of a German SUV without the German service relationship. The cars are genuinely well engineered, and when one is damaged the repair needs to respect that.

We are a Genesis certified collision repair facility, which means the work is done to Genesis’s own published standard rather than to whatever an estimating system suggests.

How a Genesis is built

Genesis bodies make heavy use of hot-stamped and ultra-high-strength steel through the safety cage, with aluminum closures and suspension components and structural adhesive running through the critical joints. The G80 and GV80 carry a notably high proportion of advanced high-strength steel, and that material carries the same rule every premium structure does: hot-formed members are engineered to resist deformation, they cannot be heated or straightened back, and the sectioning points are specified by the manufacturer rather than chosen by the technician.

The Electrified G80 and GV60 add a structural battery pack in the floor, high-voltage isolation procedure before any work in that zone, and defined underbody inspection criteria after an impact.

The driver assistance systems

Genesis fits one of the more complete assistance suites on the market. Highway Driving Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Surround View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist — all of it depends on a forward camera behind the windshield, radar at the front and rear corners, ultrasonic sensors through the bumper covers and cameras in the mirrors and tailgate.

Every one of those has a factory-defined position. Replace or disturb what they mount to and the system requires recalibration to the published procedure, which for most Genesis systems means a static calibration against specified targets on a level floor, sometimes followed by a dynamic road procedure. The Blind-Spot View Monitor cameras in the mirrors are a commonly missed one after a mirror or door repair. See ADAS calibration after a collision for what to insist on.

Paint, including the matte finishes

Genesis offers matte finishes — Matte Melbourne Gray and its siblings — and these need to be understood before anyone touches them. A matte panel cannot be polished, compounded or waxed to correct a defect; doing so leaves a permanently glossy patch. Refinishing means spraying the matte clear correctly the first time. The gloss metallics are more conventional but still shift under light, so blending into adjacent undamaged panels is normal practice rather than an upcharge.

The insurance side

Being certified helps here in a way owners often underestimate. When Genesis’s published procedure specifies a genuine part for a structural or sensor-mounting position, or specifies a static calibration rather than a dynamic one, that document goes on the supplement. Manufacturer procedure from a certified facility is the strongest argument available in a parts or calibration dispute — considerably stronger than a shop’s opinion. More on how that plays out in OEM vs aftermarket parts in a New York claim.

What certification actually means here

Enthusiast Auto Works is a Genesis certified collision repair facility. That is not a marketing phrase. It means Genesis has assessed our equipment, our training and our facility against its own standard, and that we have access to and work from the manufacturer’s published repair procedures for your vehicle rather than a generic estimating database. We also hold auto body certification with Land Rover, Jaguar, Rivian, Nissan, Kia and Stellantis, and we repair every other premium marque to published procedure using our technicians’ individual certifications.

Where our Genesis customers come from

We are at 55B Plain Ave in New Rochelle, minutes from I-95 exit 16 and convenient to the Hutchinson River Parkway and the Cross County. Genesis owners come to us from New Rochelle, Scarsdale, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye, Harrison, Purchase, Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Pelham, Hartsdale, White Plains, Port Chester and Yonkers, and from Greenwich and Stamford. Certified facilities for this marque are not thick on the ground in Westchester, so we see cars from further out too.

Common questions

Do I have to use a Genesis certified shop?

You are not required to, and under New York law the choice of shop is entirely yours. But a certified facility works from the manufacturer’s procedures, which is what keeps the repair correct and the warranty conversation simple.

Will this affect my Genesis warranty?

A certified repair performed to published procedure and documented does not affect your warranty.

Do you repair the Electrified G80 and GV60?

Yes, including high-voltage isolation and the post-impact underbody inspection the platform requires.

My Genesis is matte. Can it be repaired?

Yes, but it must be refinished rather than polished. Any shop that suggests buffing a matte panel has told you what you need to know.

Will you deal with my insurance company?

Yes, start to finish, including the supplements.

We repair with OEM parts. Only.

Enthusiast Auto Works fits new original parts from the manufacturer’s dealer network. Not “like kind and quality”, not aftermarket copies, not a used panel off a donor car. Barring genuinely exceptional circumstances, that is what goes on your vehicle.

We also tell your insurer this before the estimate is written, rather than arguing about it afterwards. That one step is the reason it is rare for the question to become a fight at all.

Why it matters more than it sounds:

  • Structural parts are engineered, not shaped. Reinforcement bars, crush cans, rails and radiator supports are designed to deform in a particular sequence at a particular load. A part that looks identical and deforms differently changes how the car protects you in the next collision — and nothing about the finished repair would reveal it.
  • Sensors are measured in millimeters. Radar sits behind bumper covers and grilles, cameras sit in windshields and mirrors. If the mounting geometry is slightly off, calibration either fails or succeeds against the wrong reference. The second outcome is the dangerous one.
  • Fit, coating and corrosion. Panel gaps, steel thickness and factory corrosion protection differ on copies. You see the gap immediately; you see the corrosion in three winters.
  • Resale. A documented aftermarket panel is something a serious buyer’s inspector finds and prices in. On a premium car that is real money.

If your insurer pushes back. Most estimates arrive with aftermarket substitutions already written in. We write the supplement from the manufacturer’s published repair procedure with the relevant pages attached and make the case for the original part — documented procedure moves adjusters in a way that opinion does not. If a carrier still will not pay, our first move is to find a way to make the repair work without you going out of pocket. If we cannot, we call you, explain exactly where the claim stands, and you make the decision. What does not happen is an aftermarket part going quietly onto your car while you find out later.
