Jaguar made a decision in the last decade that still defines how its cars have to be repaired: it went aluminum, and it went further than almost anyone. The XE, XF, F-PACE, E-PACE, F-TYPE and I-PACE are aluminum-intensive structures, riveted and bonded rather than welded, and repairing one correctly requires a facility built for that specific job.

We are a Jaguar certified collision repair facility, which means exactly that — the equipment, the training and the separated aluminum work area have been assessed against Jaguar’s own standard, and we work from the manufacturer’s published procedures rather than a generic estimating database.

Why aluminum construction changes the repair

Separation is mandatory, not preferred. Aluminum and steel debris must never cross. Steel particles embedded in an aluminum panel corrode galvanically, and the result appears months later as bubbling beneath new paint. A dedicated aluminum area with its own extraction is one of the things certification verifies.

The joints are engineered. Self-piercing rivets and structural adhesive do the work that spot welds do on a steel car. Each joint has a specified rivet, a specified adhesive and a specified cure schedule, and Jaguar publishes all three. Substituting any of them produces a different structure with the same appearance.

Castings and extrusions follow their own rules. Cast nodes are replaced rather than straightened. Extrusions have defined sectioning points. The published procedure decides, not the technician’s judgement of what looks salvageable.

Aluminum takes more hours than steel. This is simply true, and it is the source of most first-estimate disputes on a Jaguar claim.

F-TYPE, and cars that are driven differently

The F-TYPE is a weekend car for a lot of its Westchester owners, which means the damage pattern is different — front lips and lower bodywork from driveway aprons, curbed wheels, and the occasional genuine incident on a back road. It also means the finish standard is higher, because the car is looked at rather than merely used.

I-PACE and high voltage

The I-PACE places its battery in the floor as a structural element. Isolation procedure comes before any structural work in that zone, the underbody carries defined post-impact inspection criteria, and thermal management routing occupies space that would be empty on a combustion car. None of it is difficult; all of it is procedure, and it has to be followed rather than approximated.

Sensors, cameras and calibration

Current Jaguars carry a forward camera behind the windshield, front and corner radar, ultrasonic sensors through the bumper covers and surround-view cameras. Adaptive cruise, lane keeping, blind spot assist and the parking systems all reference factory sensor geometry, with published calibration procedures — static, dynamic or both, in a defined order. Cars with adaptive or air suspension need ride height correct before any of it, because everything is measured from there. See ADAS calibration after a collision.

Paint

Jaguar’s signature colors — the deep blues, British Racing Green, and the multi-stage reds and whites — need blending into adjacent undamaged panels to match correctly. SVO and special-order finishes frequently have no standard mixing formula, and those get sprayed on test cards and checked against the car in daylight, shade and artificial light before anything is applied.

What certification actually means here

Enthusiast Auto Works is a Jaguar certified collision repair facility. That is not a marketing phrase. It means Jaguar has assessed our equipment, our training and our facility against its own standard, and that we have access to and work from the manufacturer’s published repair procedures for your vehicle rather than a generic estimating database. We also hold auto body certification with Land Rover, Jaguar, Rivian, Nissan, Kia and Stellantis, and we repair every other premium marque to published procedure using our technicians’ individual certifications.

The insurance side

The labor argument is the one that comes up most often, because an aluminum structural repair genuinely takes longer than the steel equivalent and the first estimate rarely allows for it. Certification is what settles it: Jaguar’s published procedure attached to the supplement, showing what the manufacturer requires for that component on that car.

Parts follow the same logic — see OEM vs aftermarket parts in a New York claim — and on a newer Jaguar, diminished value is worth raising, because residuals in this segment are already sensitive to history reports.

Where our Jaguar customers come from

55B Plain Ave, New Rochelle, minutes off I-95 exit 16 and convenient to the Hutchinson River Parkway and the Cross County. Jaguar owners come to us from New Rochelle, Scarsdale, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye, Harrison, Purchase, Bronxville, Eastchester, Pelham, Hartsdale, White Plains, Chappaqua, Bedford, Port Chester and Yonkers, and from Greenwich and Stamford. Because certified aluminum facilities are thin on the ground, we see cars from well beyond the county too.

Common questions

Can any body shop repair an aluminum Jaguar?

Not properly. It requires separated aluminum work space, the correct riveting and bonding equipment, and access to Jaguar’s published procedures. Without those the repair may look right and corrode later.

Will a certified repair affect my warranty?

No. Work performed to Jaguar’s published procedure and documented does not affect it.

Why is the estimate higher than I expected?

Aluminum structural work takes more hours, the joining methods are specified rather than improvised, and sensor calibration is a real procedure with real time attached. We document all of it.

Do you repair the I-PACE?

Yes, including high-voltage isolation and the post-impact underbody inspection.

Do I have to use the shop my insurer suggests?

No. In New York the choice is yours — see choosing your own body shop in New York.

We repair with OEM parts. Only.

Enthusiast Auto Works fits new original parts from the manufacturer’s dealer network. Not “like kind and quality”, not aftermarket copies, not a used panel off a donor car. Barring genuinely exceptional circumstances, that is what goes on your vehicle.

We also tell your insurer this before the estimate is written, rather than arguing about it afterwards. That one step is the reason it is rare for the question to become a fight at all.

Why it matters more than it sounds:

  • Structural parts are engineered, not shaped. Reinforcement bars, crush cans, rails and radiator supports are designed to deform in a particular sequence at a particular load. A part that looks identical and deforms differently changes how the car protects you in the next collision — and nothing about the finished repair would reveal it.
  • Sensors are measured in millimeters. Radar sits behind bumper covers and grilles, cameras sit in windshields and mirrors. If the mounting geometry is slightly off, calibration either fails or succeeds against the wrong reference. The second outcome is the dangerous one.
  • Fit, coating and corrosion. Panel gaps, steel thickness and factory corrosion protection differ on copies. You see the gap immediately; you see the corrosion in three winters.
  • Resale. A documented aftermarket panel is something a serious buyer’s inspector finds and prices in. On a premium car that is real money.

If your insurer pushes back. Most estimates arrive with aftermarket substitutions already written in. We write the supplement from the manufacturer’s published repair procedure with the relevant pages attached and make the case for the original part — documented procedure moves adjusters in a way that opinion does not. If a carrier still will not pay, our first move is to find a way to make the repair work without you going out of pocket. If we cannot, we call you, explain exactly where the claim stands, and you make the decision. What does not happen is an aftermarket part going quietly onto your car while you find out later.

If your vehicle has paint protection film on it

Most collision shops cannot finish the job. They can repair and repaint the panel, but they cannot put the film back, because that is a separate trade with a separate certification. The car goes to a second facility afterward — a second drop-off, a second wait, and nobody answerable if the result does not match.

We do both in the same building. To our knowledge, Enthusiast Auto Works is the only collision facility in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut holding Rivian collision certification, Land Rover collision certification and XPEL Certified Installer status at the same time. A filmed vehicle is stripped, repaired, refinished, cured and re-filmed here without moving.

Other certified shops in the area send us their customers’ cars for the film work once their paint is done. If the film has to come back to us anyway, you can simply start here.
