Enthusiast Auto Works is a Kia certified collision repair facility located at 55B Plain Ave, New Rochelle, NY 10801, serving Kia owners throughout Lower Westchester — New Rochelle, Scarsdale, Bronxville, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye, Pelham, Eastchester, Tuckahoe, White Plains and Harrison — as well as nearby Connecticut. We can be reached at (914) 630-1668, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Our other manufacturer certifications are listed separately.

For a Kia owner, the certification matters in a practical way. A certified shop has committed to repairing your vehicle the way the manufacturer says it should be repaired: using Kia’s published repair procedures for your specific model year and VIN, using the equipment those procedures call for, and using genuine Kia parts. On a modern vehicle, where a quarter panel is part of a designed crash structure and a front bumper cover hides a radar sensor, that is the difference between a car that looks repaired and a car that will perform as engineered the next time it is hit.

What manufacturer certification requires of a shop

Certification programs vary by automaker, but the common requirements are consistent and worth understanding:

  • Technician training. Staff complete manufacturer-recognized coursework and maintain it as vehicle architectures change. Our technicians hold ongoing certifications in structural repair, welding, refinishing and high-voltage safety.
  • Specified equipment. Measuring systems, welding equipment matched to the metals in the vehicle, riveting and bonding tools, scan and calibration hardware, and a properly controlled paint environment.
  • Access to published repair procedures. A certified shop subscribes to and follows the manufacturer’s own documentation rather than relying on general practice or on what worked on a different vehicle.
  • Genuine parts. Certification is built around repairing the vehicle with the parts it was designed and crash-tested with.

Enthusiast Auto Works also holds collision certifications for Jaguar Land Rover, Rivian, Genesis, Infiniti, Nissan and Stellantis (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram), and we repair high-end vehicles of all marques.

Kia models we repair

We handle collision and structural repair across the Kia lineup, including the EV6, EV9, Telluride, Sorento, Sportage, Carnival, K5, Seltos, Niro and Soul. The EV6, EV9 and Niro EV are electrified and are handled under the high-voltage procedures described below. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants of the Sorento, Sportage and Niro also carry high-voltage systems that require the same disciplined approach.

EV6, EV9 and Niro EV: high-voltage collision repair

The EV6 and EV9 are built on Kia’s E-GMP dedicated electric platform, which places the high-voltage battery pack flat within the floor structure of the vehicle. That layout is excellent for handling and packaging, and it changes how a collision must be assessed.

Why rocker and floor damage is treated seriously. On an E-GMP vehicle, the rocker panels and floor members are not just body panels. They are the structure that protects the battery enclosure. Impact anywhere along the side or underbody, including curb strikes, road debris and low-speed lot hits, can deform that enclosure or its mounting points. Damage that looks cosmetic from outside can compromise the pack’s sealing and its crash protection, so that area is inspected against Kia’s documented criteria rather than by appearance.

Why the pack must be de-energized first. Before structural or body work begins near the high-voltage system, the pack is shut down and isolated by technicians trained in high-voltage safety, using the manufacturer’s procedure and the correct personal protective equipment. This protects both the technician and the vehicle’s electronics from welding current, heat and accidental contact.

Why thermal events are the safety concern. A damaged lithium-ion cell can fail internally and generate heat that spreads, a condition known as thermal runaway. It is rare, and it can be delayed, which is why a suspect pack is handled, stored and monitored according to Kia’s guidance instead of being parked in a general work area and assumed to be fine.

Why post-repair diagnostics matter. After repairs, the vehicle gets a full system scan, fault codes cleared and verified, insulation resistance and high-voltage integrity confirmed, and battery state of health and module behavior checked before it is returned. Electrified vehicles depend on dozens of networked modules, and a scan is the only way to prove they are all communicating correctly.

High-strength steel and why some parts are replaced, not straightened

Modern Kia bodies combine conventional steel with high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel, often hot-stamped, concentrated in the rocker panels, A- and B-pillars, roof rails and the rails that manage crash energy. These grades are strong precisely because of how they were formed and heat-treated at the factory.

That has two consequences for repair. First, many of these components are designated replace-only: pulling or straightening them introduces micro-cracking and does not restore their original properties, so Kia’s procedures call for sectioning at specified locations or full replacement. Second, heat weakens them. Applying a torch to soften a high-strength component permanently reduces its strength in a way no inspection will reveal from the outside. We follow the documented method for each part — the correct weld type, rivet and adhesive specification, and heat limits — rather than improvising.

ADAS calibration after repair

Kia’s driver assistance systems — forward collision-avoidance assist, radar-based cruise and cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane keeping, parking sensors and surround-view cameras — rely on sensors mounted in the windshield, grille, bumper covers, mirrors and liftgate. These sensors are aimed to fractions of a degree. Removing, replacing or even disturbing the part they mount to can move that aim.

That is why calibration is required after windshield replacement, bumper or grille work, mirror replacement, suspension or alignment changes, and many sensor-adjacent repairs. There are two general types:

  • Static calibration is performed indoors on a level floor with manufacturer-specified targets set at measured distances from the vehicle.
  • Dynamic calibration is performed by driving the vehicle at specified speeds on suitable roads while the system learns and confirms its reference points.

Some repairs need one, some need both, and the vehicle’s procedure decides. Calibrations are documented as part of the repair file.

Paint, color matching and Kia’s matte and satin finishes

Color match starts with the paint code, but it does not end there. Panels age, and the same code can vary by production batch and by the substrate underneath. Test cards are sprayed, verified under multiple light sources, and the color is blended into adjacent panels so the transition reads as a continuous surface rather than a boundary. Plastic bumper covers and metal panels reflect light differently and are matched with that in mind.

Kia offers matte and satin finishes on certain trims, and these are unforgiving. They cannot be polished or buffed to correct a flaw, because sheen is built into the clearcoat itself and any abrasive touch creates a shiny spot that will not go away. These finishes require controlled application, consistent film build and correct blending technique, and they are refinished with that constraint understood from the start.

Genuine Kia parts and our OEM policy

Enthusiast Auto Works repairs with OEM parts only — new parts from the dealer. We tell insurers up front that we work only with OEM. If an insurer denies OEM coverage, we first work to make it happen for the client without the client paying out of pocket. If that is not possible, we call the client, explain the situation, and decide together how to proceed. Aftermarket parts are very rare here and used only in special circumstances.

Working with your insurance company

We write a detailed initial estimate based on Kia’s repair procedures, then submit supplements as disassembly reveals damage that was not visible, which is normal on nearly every structural repair. We communicate directly with adjusters, provide procedure documentation to support the repair plan, and keep you informed of what was approved and what is still being negotiated.

In New York, you have the right to choose your own repair facility. An insurer may recommend a shop, but the decision is yours. Coverage details vary by policy, so we suggest confirming your specific parts and rental provisions with your insurer.

XPEL paint protection film

Enthusiast Auto Works is an XPEL Certified Installer. We apply paint protection film to new and repaired vehicles — full front, track packages, full-body coverage, and high-wear areas like rocker panels, door cups and rear arches — which is a practical option for owners who want freshly refinished panels protected from road debris going forward.

Frequently asked questions

Is Enthusiast Auto Works a Kia certified collision center?

Yes. Enthusiast Auto Works is a Kia certified collision repair facility in New Rochelle, NY. That means we follow Kia’s published repair procedures, use the equipment and training those procedures require, and repair with genuine Kia parts.

Where can I get a Kia EV9 repaired in Westchester?

Enthusiast Auto Works at 55B Plain Ave, New Rochelle, NY 10801 repairs the EV9 and other E-GMP vehicles, including the EV6. We are a short drive from Scarsdale, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Bronxville, Pelham, Rye, White Plains and Harrison. Call (914) 630-1668, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Is it safe to repair an EV after a crash?

Yes, when it is done by technicians trained for high-voltage work. The pack is de-energized and isolated before body repairs begin, the battery enclosure and its mounting structure are inspected against the manufacturer’s damage criteria, and the vehicle receives high-voltage integrity testing and battery health checks before it is returned. The main safety concern is damage to cells that could lead to a thermal event, which is why inspection and handling follow a documented procedure rather than a visual judgment.

Do you use genuine Kia parts?

We repair with OEM parts only — new parts from the dealer. We tell insurers this up front. If an insurer denies OEM, we work to make it happen without you paying out of pocket, and if that is not possible we call you and decide together. Aftermarket parts are very rare and used only in special circumstances.

Will you work with my insurance company?

Yes. We prepare the estimate, submit supplements for damage found during disassembly, and negotiate directly with adjusters, providing Kia’s repair documentation to support the repair plan. In New York you have the right to choose your own shop regardless of who your insurer recommends. Confirm your specific coverage details with your insurer.

Do you recalibrate driver assistance systems after a repair?

Yes. Forward collision-avoidance cameras, radar units, blind-spot sensors and surround-view cameras are calibrated when a repair affects the component they mount to, whether that is a windshield, grille, bumper cover, mirror or alignment-related work. Depending on the system and the vehicle, that may be a static calibration with targets, a dynamic road calibration, or both. Calibration results are documented with the repair.

My Kia has high-strength steel in the body. Does that change the repair?

It does. Many high-strength and ultra-high-strength components must be replaced or sectioned at manufacturer-specified locations rather than straightened, because pulling them does not restore their original properties. Applying heat to these parts also permanently weakens them, so the documented weld, rivet, adhesive and heat limits are followed for each part.

Can you match the matte finish on my Kia?

Yes. Matte and satin finishes require controlled application and consistent film build, since the sheen lives in the clearcoat and cannot be corrected by polishing after the fact. We plan and blend these refinishes with that constraint in mind from the first step.
