The Range Rover is one of the most commonly filmed vehicles in Westchester and Greenwich, and one of the most restricted to get repaired. Those two facts together are the reason this page exists.

Aluminum is the reason the repair network is small

Range Rovers are aluminum-intensive, and aluminum structural repair is not something a general body shop can take on. Jaguar Land Rover specifies procedures and equipment that include physically segregated aluminum work areas, because aluminum dust in a steel shop is both a contamination problem and a fire risk. You cannot repair an aluminum body properly in a shop set up for steel.

The result is that the list of shops permitted to repair your Range Rover structurally is short. We are on it — we hold Land Rover and Jaguar collision certification — and we are also an XPEL Certified Installer, which almost none of the others are.

To our knowledge we are the only collision facility in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut holding Land Rover certification, Rivian certification and XPEL Certified Installer status at the same time. For a filmed Range Rover that is the difference between one shop and two: we strip the film, repair and refinish the panel, cure it on our own schedule and re-film it to match, without the vehicle leaving the building. More on that in collision repair for a car with paint protection film.

What damages a Range Rover around here

Driveways. This is the one owners never connect to the damage. Backcountry Greenwich, Purchase, Scarsdale, Alpine and Saddle River are full of long pea-gravel and Belgian block drives. A wide vehicle in and out of one several hundred times a year is taking low-speed stone damage at the rockers, the lower doors and the rear quarters continuously. It shows up years later as a haze of chips with no single event to blame.

Parkway sand. The Merritt, the Hutchinson River Parkway and the Saw Mill are sanded heavily every winter and swept slowly every spring. From late February into April, following traffic at ordinary spacing sandblasts the leading edge of the hood, the mirror backs and the lower bumper.

Height and frontal area. A Range Rover presents a tall, upright face to the road. Like the Rivian, it catches square what a lower car would deflect.

Tree canopy. Sap and bird droppings on the hood and roof, both acidic, both able to etch clearcoat if they sit in the sun. That is a ceramic coating problem rather than a film problem, and on a Range Rover kept under trees the two belong together.

What we fit

Full front in XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS — complete bumper, complete hood, full fenders, mirrors and headlights, no line across the hood. Then the high-impact set: rockers, lower doors, rear wheel arches, door cups and door edge guards. On a vehicle that lives on a gravel drive, that second half matters at least as much as the first.

For a satin or Ultimate Edition finish, XPEL STEALTH rather than gloss, because matte paint cannot be polished and stays marked once marked. For a color change, XPEL COLOR film rather than vinyl: eight mil, self-healing, sixteen finishes, a ten-year warranty, and it protects the original paint rather than covering it.

Ceramic coating over the film, in XPEL FUSION PLUS, handles the sap and the salt. We use XPEL on both sides of that line because XPEL lists non-XPEL coatings over its film as a warranty exclusion.

Before it is driven

The best Range Rover film jobs we do come to us straight from delivery. Luxury dealers across Westchester and in Greenwich send us their higher-end cars before the customer collects them, which means the paint has never seen a stone. If you are taking delivery of one, ask the dealer to send it here first.

One shop, both halves of the job

We are a collision repair facility and an XPEL Certified Installer in the same building. That matters more than it sounds: if a filmed panel is damaged, we strip the film, repair and refinish the panel with OEM parts, let the paint cure on a schedule we control, and re-film it to match. Most shops can do one half and have to send the car elsewhere for the other. See collision repair for a car with paint protection film.

The warranty: XPEL covers the film for ten years against yellowing, cracking, blistering and delaminating, and we cover all labor on anything that comes from our installation. We register every car, so the coverage travels if you move out of state. On every clear film job we ask you back after about two weeks, because if film is going to lift, it lifts in the first two weeks while the adhesive is curing.
