Pelham sits on the line where New York City stops and Westchester begins, and that is the single most useful thing to know about driving there. Traffic arrives from the Bronx at city pace and meets village streets built for something slower. A lot of what we repair from Pelham and Pelham Manor happens in the first few hundred yards on either side of that transition.
We are five minutes away. Pelham is effectively our own neighborhood.
Where the damage happens
The Boston Post Road. US-1 through Pelham Manor carries heavy volume with constant turning into driveways, side streets and the shopping center. Rear-end impacts at the lights and turning collisions across traffic are the two recurring patterns.
The Hutchinson River Parkway ramps. Short on-ramps with no room to build speed, feeding a parkway that is already moving. Merging damage, and the occasional more serious impact.
Wolfs Lane and the village center. Parallel parking on a busy street, commuters in and out of the station all day, and delivery vehicles double-parked. Doors, mirrors and quarter panels.
The Pelham Manor shopping center lots. Reversing collisions and aisle-to-aisle contact, the ordinary bread and butter of low-speed bumper work.
Shore Road and the Bronx boundary. Fast, curved, and busier than it looks, with Pelham Bay Park traffic mixing in.
The residential grid in Pelham Heights. Narrow, parked both sides, four-way intersections with limited sightlines because of parked cars. Low-speed intersection collisions are common and they damage front corners and wheels.
Small impacts, modern cars
The thing Pelham customers are most often caught out by is how much a low-speed impact now costs. A bumper cover is no longer a piece of trim — it holds the ultrasonic parking sensors, frequently the corner radar for blind spot and cross-traffic alert, and sometimes a camera. Behind it sit the absorber and the reinforcement bar, which are routinely damaged when the cover itself is barely marked.
Which is why the first estimate written from the outside is usually incomplete, and why a proper repair starts with teardown. It is also why calibration matters: disturb a sensor mounting point and the system needs recalibrating to the manufacturer’s published procedure, whether or not a warning light appears. Usually one does not. See ADAS calibration after a collision.
What we are actually certified for
Enthusiast Auto Works holds manufacturer auto body certification with Land Rover, Jaguar, Rivian, Genesis, Infiniti, Nissan, Kia and Stellantis (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, Fiat), and we are an XPEL certified installer. Every other premium marque — BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Maserati, Rolls-Royce, Tesla, Lexus, Volvo and the rest — we repair to the manufacturer’s published procedure using our technicians’ own certifications and our equipment. We do not claim brand certifications we do not hold, and you can ask to see any of them.
A note on paint
Premium metallics will not match at a hard panel edge. If your car is a modern German or British metallic, a correct repair blends the color into the adjacent undamaged panel. A quote that covers only the damaged panel is not cheaper — it is a repair you will notice in daylight for as long as you own the car.
Dropping the car off
55B Plain Ave, New Rochelle — a few minutes up the Post Road or one exit on the Hutch. Close enough that most Pelham customers drop the car and get a lift home rather than arranging anything complicated. If the car is not drivable we will collect it; if it has already been towed, call us before it settles into a yard, because storage accrues daily and the shop is your choice under New York law.
Common questions from Pelham customers
I was rear-ended on the Post Road. The bumper looks fine. Is it?
Often not. The cover is designed to spring back; the absorber and reinforcement behind it are not. Have it looked at rather than assumed.
Is the repair worth claiming?
Depends on the figure against your deductible. We will give you the honest number and let you decide.
Do you work on my car?
We repair every premium marque, and we are certified with Land Rover, Jaguar, Rivian, Genesis, Infiniti, Nissan, Kia and Stellantis. There is a page for each marque.
How long will it take?
Days for cosmetic work, weeks for structural — and most of the wait is insurer approval and parts rather than labor. See how long collision repair takes.
Can you also protect the paint?
Yes, we are an XPEL certified installer and can film fresh paint before it meets a winter of Post Road salt.

We repair with OEM parts. Only.
Enthusiast Auto Works fits new original parts from the manufacturer’s dealer network. Not “like kind and quality”, not aftermarket copies, not a used panel off a donor car. Barring genuinely exceptional circumstances, that is what goes on your vehicle.
We also tell your insurer this before the estimate is written, rather than arguing about it afterwards. That one step is the reason it is rare for the question to become a fight at all.
Why it matters more than it sounds:
- Structural parts are engineered, not shaped. Reinforcement bars, crush cans, rails and radiator supports are designed to deform in a particular sequence at a particular load. A part that looks identical and deforms differently changes how the car protects you in the next collision — and nothing about the finished repair would reveal it.
- Sensors are measured in millimeters. Radar sits behind bumper covers and grilles, cameras sit in windshields and mirrors. If the mounting geometry is slightly off, calibration either fails or succeeds against the wrong reference. The second outcome is the dangerous one.
- Fit, coating and corrosion. Panel gaps, steel thickness and factory corrosion protection differ on copies. You see the gap immediately; you see the corrosion in three winters.
- Resale. A documented aftermarket panel is something a serious buyer’s inspector finds and prices in. On a premium car that is real money.
If your insurer pushes back. Most estimates arrive with aftermarket substitutions already written in. We write the supplement from the manufacturer’s published repair procedure with the relevant pages attached and make the case for the original part — documented procedure moves adjusters in a way that opinion does not. If a carrier still will not pay, our first move is to find a way to make the repair work without you going out of pocket. If we cannot, we call you, explain exactly where the claim stands, and you make the decision. What does not happen is an aftermarket part going quietly onto your car while you find out later.
