Porsche owners in Westchester tend to fall into two groups: the Macan and Cayenne drivers using the car every day between Scarsdale, Rye and the city, and the 911, Cayman and Boxster owners whose car comes out on weekends for the Taconic and the back roads north of Bedford. Both groups end up in the same position eventually — something happened, and the car cannot go to whichever shop happens to be nearest.

Why a Porsche repair is its own discipline

The 911 is mostly aluminum, and it is bonded. The 992 body-in-white is predominantly aluminum with hot-formed steel in the critical cage areas, assembled with structural adhesive and rivets rather than spot welds throughout much of the structure. That means the repair is governed by bond line preparation, adhesive cure schedules and rivet specification — get any of those wrong and the joint is weaker than the metal either side of it.

The energy path is unusual. With the engine behind the rear axle, a 911 manages front and rear impact energy differently from a front-engined car. The crush structures and their sequence are specific to the model, and a “close enough” repair changes how the car behaves in the next impact.

Mixed materials, separated bays. Aluminum and steel debris must never share a workspace. We keep aluminum work physically separate, because galvanic corrosion under fresh paint is a problem that appears long after the car has left.

Alignment is a precision job. Porsche suspension geometry is tight and unforgiving, and cars with rear-axle steering add another set of references. After any structural work the car needs a full four-wheel alignment to factory specification, not a toe-and-go.

Taycan: 800 volts and a structural battery

The Taycan runs an 800-volt architecture, which is not a detail — it changes the isolation procedure, the tooling and the safety protocol before anyone touches structure near the pack. The battery is a stressed member of the floor, the underbody has defined post-impact inspection criteria, and thermal circuits run through zones that would be air on a combustion car. There is no version of this job that can be improvised.

Carbon ceramic brakes

PCCB discs are not ordinary rotors. They are expensive, they are damaged by impact and by contamination, and they need to be protected during bodywork rather than treated as something to lean a fender against. We handle them as the high-value components they are, and we inspect rather than assume after any impact in their vicinity.

Paint, and Paint to Sample

Standard Porsche colors are already demanding — the metallics shift under light and need blending into adjacent panels to match correctly. Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus are a different problem entirely. These are individually specified colors, often with no standard mixing formula available, and matching one means spraying test cards, checking them against the car under multiple light sources, and adjusting until it is right. A PTS car repaired by a shop that treats the paint code as a lookup will come back visibly wrong.

Sensors and driver assistance

Current Porsches carry forward camera, front and corner radar, ultrasonic parking sensors and surround-view cameras. Lane Keep, adaptive cruise, Night Vision Assist on the cars that have it — all of them reference a factory-specified sensor position. Move the bumper, the grille surround or anything a sensor mounts to and the system requires recalibration to the published procedure, static or dynamic or both. Details in ADAS calibration after a collision.

Active aerodynamics add a step: the rear wing and active front elements have their own end-stop learning procedures after a front or rear structure repair.

While the car is with us

Porsche is one of the marques we build aftermarket exhaust systems for — IPE, Fi Exhaust and Akrapovic — and a car already in the shop for bodywork is the most convenient time to have that done. We are also an XPEL certified installer, so fresh paint can go into paint protection film before it sees a single Westchester winter.

The insurance side

Porsche claims run into the same two arguments as every premium marque, only with more money attached. Structural and sensor-mounting components are where an aftermarket substitution actually matters, and the way to win that argument is Porsche’s own published procedure attached to the supplement — see OEM vs aftermarket parts in a New York claim. Calibration time is the other; a flat rate that does not cover the documented procedure for that model is a supplement conversation.

On a Porsche in particular, do not skip diminished value. These cars are bought by people who read history reports closely, and a documented accident costs real money at resale.

About our certifications

We hold manufacturer auto body certification with Land Rover, Jaguar, Rivian, Genesis, Infiniti, Nissan, Kia and Stellantis. We are not a factory-certified center for this marque, and we will not claim to be. What we bring to it is our technicians’ individual certifications, a measuring and welding setup built for multi-material structures, a separate aluminum work area, and a commitment to repairing the car to the procedure the manufacturer actually published. If a shop tells you it is certified by every badge on the road, ask to see the paperwork.

Where our Porsche customers come from

Porsche owners come to us from New Rochelle, Larchmont, Scarsdale, Rye, Mamaroneck, Harrison, Purchase, Bronxville, Eastchester, Pelham, White Plains, Hartsdale, Port Chester and Yonkers, and from Greenwich and Stamford. Enclosed transport can be arranged for cars that should not be flat-bedded in the open.

Common questions

Can a 911 be properly repaired outside a dealer?

Yes, when the shop has the equipment for bonded aluminum structures, follows the published procedure and documents it. What matters is the method, not the sign over the door.

My car is Paint to Sample. Can you match it?

Yes, and we will show you the sprayed test cards against the car before we commit. PTS matching is done by eye under controlled light, not by formula lookup.

Do you work on air-cooled cars?

We repair collision damage on them. We do not take on full antique or classic restoration projects.

Do I need calibration if the warning lights are off?

Yes, if the procedure calls for it. A misaimed camera frequently passes its own self-check while measuring distance incorrectly.

Can you fit an exhaust while the car is in for repair?

Yes. IPE, Fi Exhaust and Akrapovic, on Porsche and the other exotic marques.

Paint protection film on a 911

Worth mentioning here because it is the other half of what we do for Porsche owners. The 911 is the car we fit paint protection film to more often than any other model, and it is one of the least forgiving shapes in the business. The rear arch curvature, the nose, the mirror shells and the shut lines all punish a shortcut — a film edge that was cut rather than wrapped shows on a 911 in a way it does not on a sedan.

On a car with Paint to Sample or a factory satin finish, the argument gets stronger still. A stone chip on a bespoke color is not a touch-up; it is a panel respray with a blend into the adjacent panels, and the car carries it from then on. Satin cannot be polished at all, so XPEL STEALTH is the only real protection for one.

We are an XPEL Certified Installer as well as a collision repair facility, which means film, paint correction and any refinishing the car needs happen in one building on a schedule we control — and if a filmed panel is damaged later, we repair it and refit the film properly. We repair with OEM parts. Only.

Enthusiast Auto Works fits new original parts from the manufacturer’s dealer network. Not “like kind and quality”, not aftermarket copies, not a used panel off a donor car. Barring genuinely exceptional circumstances, that is what goes on your vehicle.

We also tell your insurer this before the estimate is written, rather than arguing about it afterwards. That one step is the reason it is rare for the question to become a fight at all.

Why it matters more than it sounds:

  • Structural parts are engineered, not shaped. Reinforcement bars, crush cans, rails and radiator supports are designed to deform in a particular sequence at a particular load. A part that looks identical and deforms differently changes how the car protects you in the next collision — and nothing about the finished repair would reveal it.
  • Sensors are measured in millimeters. Radar sits behind bumper covers and grilles, cameras sit in windshields and mirrors. If the mounting geometry is slightly off, calibration either fails or succeeds against the wrong reference. The second outcome is the dangerous one.
  • Fit, coating and corrosion. Panel gaps, steel thickness and factory corrosion protection differ on copies. You see the gap immediately; you see the corrosion in three winters.
  • Resale. A documented aftermarket panel is something a serious buyer’s inspector finds and prices in. On a premium car that is real money.

If your insurer pushes back. Most estimates arrive with aftermarket substitutions already written in. We write the supplement from the manufacturer’s published repair procedure with the relevant pages attached and make the case for the original part — documented procedure moves adjusters in a way that opinion does not. If a carrier still will not pay, our first move is to find a way to make the repair work without you going out of pocket. If we cannot, we call you, explain exactly where the claim stands, and you make the decision. What does not happen is an aftermarket part going quietly onto your car while you find out later.
