Bedford Hills is about 30 to 35 minutes from our shop at 55B Plain Ave in New Rochelle. Most days the drive is the Hutchinson River Parkway north to I-684, then off at the Route 172 exit and up Route 117 into the hamlet. For a lot of Bedford, Bedford Village and Katonah customers, that’s closer than they expected, and with pickup and delivery they don’t make the drive at all.
We’re a collision shop and an XPEL paint protection film installer in the same building. We fix a lot of cars from the town of Bedford: Range Rovers and Defenders, Rivians, Porsches, Audis, BMWs, and the family SUV that took the hit in the school pickup line. This page covers how we handle a repair for someone up here, from the first call to the car coming back up your driveway.
How cars get damaged around Bedford
Deer, mostly in the fall
If you drive the Saw Mill River Parkway, I-684, Route 22 or Route 172 after dark, you already know about deer. New York DMV numbers show deer crashes climb in October, peak in November and stay high into December. Up here that’s when a big share of our northern Westchester calls come in. A deer strike usually takes out the front bumper, grille, headlights and often the hood. On newer cars it also hits the radar and camera behind the grille. Hitting an animal is normally a comprehensive claim rather than a collision claim, which can matter for your deductible, so check your policy or ask us when you call.
Back roads, stone walls and gravel
A lot of Bedford is narrow two-lane roads with stone walls, blind curves and very little shoulder. We see wheels and lower rockers scraped along walls, mirrors clipped by oncoming trucks, and side damage from sliding on wet leaves or ice. Long gravel driveways chip the lower doors and rocker panels too. That’s damage paint protection film can prevent once the repair is done.
Station lots and village parking
The Bedford Hills and Katonah Metro-North lots, and the small lots around Bedford Village, produce the usual low-speed bumper hits and door dings. They look minor. On a car with parking sensors and blind-spot radar in the rear bumper, a “small” bumper repair often means sensors have to be removed, reinstalled and recalibrated.
What the repair actually involves
OEM parts only
We use new parts from the dealer. No aftermarket, no used or salvage parts. We tell the insurance company that before the estimate is written. If an insurer refuses to pay for an OEM part, we first try to make it work without any out-of-pocket cost to you. If we can’t, we call you and decide together. You won’t find out after the fact.
ADAS calibration in-house
Cameras, radar and sensors are calibrated here, as part of the repair, not sent out to another shop or a dealer. That matters on a Range Rover or a Rivian, where the driver-assist systems are tied into the bumper, windshield and mirrors. We scan the car before and after so there’s a record of what was found and what was fixed.
Certified for Rivian and Land Rover / Jaguar
We’re a Rivian certified collision center and certified for Land Rover and Jaguar collision repair. We’re also certified for Genesis, Infiniti, Nissan, Kia and Stellantis brands. We repair Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi and other makes to the manufacturer’s published procedures, but we don’t claim certifications we don’t hold.
Collision and PPF in one place
Plenty of Bedford cars already have paint protection film. When a filmed panel gets repaired, the film has to come off and new film has to go back on after the paint cures. Most body shops send that out. We do it here, because we’re an XPEL Certified Installer. You get one shop and one timeline.
Pickup, delivery and the claim
Bedford Hills, Bedford, Katonah and the rest of northern Westchester are inside our pickup and delivery area. We pick the car up from your house, bring it to New Rochelle and drop it back off when it’s done. If the car isn’t drivable or it’s been taken to a yard, call us early. Storage fees at storage yards add up by the day, and we can help get it moved. Towing to our shop is available on all insurance claims at no cost to you.
When you drop off a car for accident repair, you sign three forms: a direction of pay, an authorization to repair, and a form that lets us talk to your insurance company on your behalf. From there we act as your concierge for the claim. We deal with the adjuster, the supplements and the parts approvals, so you aren’t spending your week on the phone.
We’re a preferred repair shop for Berkley One, which helps streamline the whole process. We have a direct representative we deal with, and that lets us get to work on your car right away. We also work regularly with Chubb, PURE, AIG Private Client and Hagerty claims teams. Our high-net-worth insurance page goes through how those claims usually run.
You pick the shop, not the insurer
Under New York Insurance Law § 2610, your insurance company can’t require you to use a particular body shop. They can suggest one. You can say no. That’s true even if you were told the car has to go to a shop in their network. We wrote a full explanation here: choosing your own body shop in New York.
If the car is a total loss
Sometimes the numbers don’t work, especially on aluminum-bodied SUVs or EVs with battery or structural damage. We handle total loss claims for all makes and will tell you plainly when a car shouldn’t be repaired. We document the damage, work with your adjuster and keep you informed. Our New York total loss guide has more.
What to do right after an accident
Get photos of the damage, the scene and the other car if there is one. Get the other driver’s insurance and plate. Report it to your insurer. Then call us at 914-630-1668 before the car gets taken to a yard you didn’t pick. Our luxury car accident repair guide walks through the whole process, and our collision repair page covers what we do in the shop.
