Our shop is at 55B Plain Ave in New Rochelle, just over the Bronx line in Westchester. From the Upper East Side it’s about 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic, usually up the FDR, over the RFK Bridge and north on I-95 or the Hutchinson River Parkway. From the Upper West Side, the Henry Hudson Parkway and the Cross County get us there in about the same time. From Tribeca or the Financial District, plan on more, especially at rush hour.

You don’t have to sit in that traffic. Manhattan is inside our pickup and delivery area. We collect the car from your building, garage or office, repair it in New Rochelle and bring it back to you. Most of our Manhattan customers never see the shop, and that’s fine with them.

We’re a collision shop and an XPEL paint protection film installer in the same building. We work on Range Rovers, Rivians, Porsches, BMWs, Mercedes, G-Wagens, Teslas and a lot of everyday cars that live in Manhattan garages. Here’s what that looks like for a city car.

What happens to cars in Manhattan

Garages

Most of the damage we see from Manhattan doesn’t come from driving. It comes from parking. Tight ramps, concrete columns, stacked lifts and attendants moving dozens of cars an hour lead to scraped bumpers, crushed rocker panels, rubbed quarter panels and wheels curbed on the way in. If your garage damaged the car, take photos when you pick it up, tell the manager in writing that day, and ask for their insurance information. Then call us.

Street parking

Cars parked on the street pick up mirror hits, door dings and bumper damage from people parallel parking by feel. A lot of it is hit-and-run with no note. File a police report so your insurer has a record, and photograph everything before you move the car.

Stop-and-go driving

Low-speed rear-end hits on the FDR, the West Side Highway, avenues and bridge approaches are common. So are sideswipes from cabs, delivery vans and buses changing lanes. These look small. On a modern car, though, the rear bumper usually carries parking sensors and blind-spot radar, and the front holds a radar unit and camera tied to the car’s braking and lane-keeping systems.

Potholes and steel plates

City streets are hard on low-profile tires and wheels. When a pothole hit damages a bumper cover, splash shields or a wheel arch, that’s body work we handle. We don’t do standalone mechanical work like suspension or alignment, so if the damage is only mechanical, we’ll tell you.

How we repair a car

OEM parts only

Every part is new from the dealer. No aftermarket, no used, no salvage. We tell the insurance company that up front. If they refuse to pay for an OEM part, we first look for a way to cover it without any cost to you. If there isn’t one, we call you and decide together before anything gets installed.

ADAS calibration in-house

We do all driver-assist calibration here: cameras, front radar, blind-spot sensors and parking sensors. It’s part of the collision repair, so the car doesn’t need a separate dealer visit afterward. We scan the car before and after the repair and give you the reports.

Rivian and Land Rover / Jaguar certified

We’re a Rivian certified collision center and certified for Land Rover and Jaguar collision repair. We’re also certified for Genesis, Infiniti, Nissan, Kia and the Stellantis brands. For Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Tesla and others, we repair to manufacturer procedures with OEM parts. We aren’t certified by those brands, and we’ll say so if you ask.

Collision and PPF under one roof

A lot of city cars wear paint protection film, because Manhattan is rough on paint. When a filmed panel gets repaired, the film comes off and new film goes on after the paint cures. We’re an XPEL Certified Installer, so we do that here instead of sending your car to a second shop.

Pickup, delivery and the claim

Tell us where the car is and when it’s free to leave. We coordinate with your garage if needed and pick it up. When the repair is done and checked, we bring it back to the same place, or wherever is easier for you.

At drop-off you sign three forms: a direction of pay, an authorization to repair, and a form that lets us speak with your insurance company on your behalf. We become your concierge for the claim. We talk to the adjuster, send photos, handle supplements and keep you posted. You don’t spend your workday on hold.

We’re a preferred repair shop for Berkley One, which helps streamline the whole process. We have a direct representative we deal with, and that lets us get to work on your car right away. We also work regularly with Chubb, PURE, AIG Private Client and Hagerty claims teams. If your car is insured through one of them, our high-net-worth insurance page explains how those claims usually go.

A shop outside Manhattan is your choice to make

New York Insurance Law § 2610 says your insurer can’t require you to use a particular body shop. That applies whether the shop is in Manhattan or Westchester. If an adjuster steers you somewhere else, you can still choose us. Details are in our article on choosing your own body shop in New York.

Total losses

If the damage is severe enough that the car shouldn’t be repaired, we’ll tell you plainly. We handle total loss claims from start to finish, for all makes: we document the damage, work with your adjuster and keep you informed. See our New York total loss guide.
