Port Chester is the last stop before Connecticut, and that shapes everything about driving there. I-95 exit 21 dumps highway traffic straight into the village. The Westchester Avenue corridor is solid big-box retail. Main Street has become a destination in its own right on weekend evenings. And the Byram River is the state line, which means a meaningful share of the cars involved in Port Chester accidents are registered in another state.
We are about twenty minutes south in New Rochelle, straight down I-95.
Three different driving environments in one village
The I-95 interchange. Exit 21 and the approaches carry real speed and short merges, and this is where the structural damage comes from — the impacts that damage rails and crush cans rather than panels.
The Westchester Avenue retail corridor. Big-box lots with entrances directly onto a busy multi-lane road. Turning collisions across traffic, plus the reversing and aisle-to-aisle contact inside the lots themselves. Volume peaks hard through November and December.
Main Street and the village center. Parallel parking, deliveries, pedestrians, and an evening economy that fills every space. Doors, mirrors, bumper corners.
Add the Boston Post Road running through, and the narrower residential streets off it, and you have most of what we see from Port Chester.
Cross-border claims
Because of the Greenwich and Byram border, a lot of Port Chester accidents involve a Connecticut-registered car or a Connecticut carrier. This is less complicated than people fear, but two points are worth knowing.
The claim is handled between the two carriers regardless of which state either car is registered in. And your right to choose the repair facility is governed by where you are insured — if that is New York, Insurance Law § 2610 applies and the choice is yours. Nobody gets to route your car somewhere because of a state line.
We repair cars from Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Byram, Cos Cob and Stamford as a matter of routine, so a Connecticut plate changes nothing at our end.
What we are actually certified for
Enthusiast Auto Works holds manufacturer auto body certification with Land Rover, Jaguar, Rivian, Genesis, Infiniti, Nissan, Kia and Stellantis (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, Fiat), and we are an XPEL certified installer. Every other premium marque — BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Maserati, Rolls-Royce, Tesla, Lexus, Volvo and the rest — we repair to the manufacturer’s published procedure using our technicians’ own certifications and our equipment. We do not claim brand certifications we do not hold, and you can ask to see any of them.
What a repair involves that it did not used to
Highway damage is structural. A modern front structure is engineered to deform in a specific sequence and is then replaced rather than straightened, because the property that made it protective has been spent. The manufacturer publishes where sectioning is permitted, and for most of the safety cage it is not.
The first estimate will be incomplete. Nobody can see behind a bumper cover until it is off. Teardown produces the real number, and a shop that tears down early gets approval days sooner.
Sensors need recalibrating. Forward camera, front and corner radar, ultrasonics, mirror cameras — all reference factory geometry, and disturbing any of their mounting points means recalibration to published procedure. No warning light appears when it is skipped. See ADAS calibration after a collision.
If your car was towed off I-95
Call us before it settles in. A car towed from the highway goes to whichever yard the operator uses and starts accruing storage immediately. Every day it sits costs money and the release process gets slower.

Common questions from Port Chester customers
The other driver is insured in Connecticut. Does that slow things down?
Not materially. The carriers handle it between them, and your choice of shop is unaffected.
My car is at a yard near the highway. Can you collect it?
Yes. Call with the yard details, and sooner is much better than later.
The insurer says it is mostly cosmetic. Is it?
After a highway-speed impact, usually not. Teardown establishes it and we document it with photographs and measurements.
Do you work on my make?
Every premium marque. We are certified with Land Rover, Jaguar, Rivian, Genesis, Infiniti, Nissan, Kia and Stellantis; for the rest we work from the manufacturer’s published procedure. There is a page for each.
How long will it take?
Days for cosmetic work, weeks for structural, and most of the wait is approval and parts. See how long collision repair takes.

We repair with OEM parts. Only.
Enthusiast Auto Works fits new original parts from the manufacturer’s dealer network. Not “like kind and quality”, not aftermarket copies, not a used panel off a donor car. Barring genuinely exceptional circumstances, that is what goes on your vehicle.
We also tell your insurer this before the estimate is written, rather than arguing about it afterwards. That one step is the reason it is rare for the question to become a fight at all.
Why it matters more than it sounds:
- Structural parts are engineered, not shaped. Reinforcement bars, crush cans, rails and radiator supports are designed to deform in a particular sequence at a particular load. A part that looks identical and deforms differently changes how the car protects you in the next collision — and nothing about the finished repair would reveal it.
- Sensors are measured in millimeters. Radar sits behind bumper covers and grilles, cameras sit in windshields and mirrors. If the mounting geometry is slightly off, calibration either fails or succeeds against the wrong reference. The second outcome is the dangerous one.
- Fit, coating and corrosion. Panel gaps, steel thickness and factory corrosion protection differ on copies. You see the gap immediately; you see the corrosion in three winters.
- Resale. A documented aftermarket panel is something a serious buyer’s inspector finds and prices in. On a premium car that is real money.
If your insurer pushes back. Most estimates arrive with aftermarket substitutions already written in. We write the supplement from the manufacturer’s published repair procedure with the relevant pages attached and make the case for the original part — documented procedure moves adjusters in a way that opinion does not. If a carrier still will not pay, our first move is to find a way to make the repair work without you going out of pocket. If we cannot, we call you, explain exactly where the claim stands, and you make the decision. What does not happen is an aftermarket part going quietly onto your car while you find out later.
