White Plains is about twenty minutes from us, and it is the one place in our service area where the dominant threat to a car is not a road at all. It is concrete.
Structured parking is the White Plains problem
More cars park in a multi-story deck in White Plains than anywhere else in Westchester — the Galleria, City Center, the Westchester, the county and courthouse decks, and the garages under most of the Mamaroneck Avenue and Main Street buildings. Structured parking produces a signature set of damage, and it is the same every time:
- Door edges against columns. Bays are drawn to a minimum width and the column is always on the wrong side.
- Rocker and sill scrapes from high curbs and from ramp transitions where the floor changes angle sharply.
- Door cups and handle areas, worn by people getting in and out in a space too narrow to open a door properly.
- Diagonal scuffs on the rear quarter from reversing out of a bay with a pillar behind you.
Almost none of this is driving damage. It is parking damage, and a nose-only film package does nothing about any of it.
The roads, second
White Plains sits at the junction of the Bronx River Parkway, the Hutchinson River Parkway and the Cross Westchester. The two parkways are 1920s and 1930s roads with narrow lanes, tight shoulders, stone bridge abutments and heavy winter sanding that gets swept up slowly. From late February into April, following at ordinary spacing on either is a sandblasting exercise, and it lands on the leading hood edge, the mirror backs and the lower bumper. Bloomingdale Road and Westchester Avenue add year-round construction aggregate.
What we fit on a White Plains car
Full front in XPEL Ultimate Plus for the parkways — complete bumper, complete hood, full fenders, mirrors and headlights, with no seam across the hood and a self-healing topcoat that closes light wash swirls in warm weather.
Then, and this is where we differ from a generic recommendation, the full low-and-side package: rockers, lower doors, rear wheel arches, door cups and door edge guards. If you park in a deck every working day, that half of the job will prevent more damage than the front half.
Matte and frozen factory finishes take XPEL STEALTH, because that paint cannot be polished once marked and a gloss film would ruin the look. Color change is done as XPEL COLOR film rather than vinyl: eight mil, self-healing, sixteen gloss and satin finishes, a ten-year warranty, and it protects the original paint underneath rather than simply covering it. That last point matters on a lease, and White Plains has a lot of leases.
Correction before film
Whatever is in the paint when film goes on stays there. Garage-kept cars usually carry a haze of wash marks and a few scuffs that will polish out, and removing those first is the difference between preserving a car and preserving its defects. Every vehicle is decontaminated and inspected under proper lighting.
Because we are a collision repair facility rather than a detail business, the difficult cases stay in one building. A scuff through to primer on a door edge, a bumper corner resprayed elsewhere that does not match, a quarter panel that needs repainting first — all here, on a cure schedule we control. If a filmed car later takes a hit, we repair the panel and reinstate the film correctly.

Send photos and tell us what you drive, where it lives and how you use it, or just bring it down. We will tell you what we would cover on your car and what we would leave alone. There is no benefit to us in selling you film you do not need.
