Port Chester is about fifteen minutes up I-95, and it is the most industrially exposed town we regularly do film work for. That is not a criticism of the place; it is a description of what the roads there do to paint.

Trucks, and a lot of them

I-95 exits 21 and 22. This is the New York and Connecticut border crossing, and the truck volume through it is heavy at every hour. Trucks throw larger debris than cars, from higher up, and they drop it further. A Port Chester car that uses these ramps regularly collects a chipped bumper and a leading hood edge going matte faster than almost any car we see. That alone makes a full front the obvious starting point here rather than a considered upgrade.

The Boston Post Road and Westchester Avenue. Heavy commercial traffic, frequent utility work, and long stretches of resurfacing that throw loose aggregate for weeks afterwards.

The industrial and marine corridor. The yards and warehouses along the Byram River, and the marina areas around Fox Island, mean gravel aprons, crushed-stone lots and grit tracked onto every surrounding road. Rockers, lower doors and rear quarters take that.

Winter. Port Chester is salted and sanded like every border town on I-95, and the salt lives in the bumper seam and along the rockers long after the road looks clean.

Parking

Downtown Port Chester parks on the street and in surface lots, on narrow roads with high curbs, near a busy Metro-North station. Door edges, door cups, curbed rockers and the occasional mirror. Door edge guards earn their keep here.

What we fit

Full front in XPEL Ultimate Plus as the baseline — complete bumper, complete hood, full fenders, mirrors and headlights, no line across the hood, with a self-healing topcoat that closes light wash swirls in warm weather.

Given the truck exposure, we take the front seriously on Port Chester cars: full hood rather than a partial, and headlights included, because a sandblasted headlight lens is both an MOT-grade safety issue and an expensive part. Then rockers, lower doors and rear wheel arches for the grit, and door cups and edges for the parking.

Matte and frozen factory finishes take XPEL STEALTH, since they cannot be polished once marked. Color change is XPEL COLOR film rather than vinyl — eight mil, self-healing, sixteen gloss and satin finishes, a ten-year warranty, protecting the paint underneath instead of hiding it.

Before the film

Film preserves whatever is beneath it. On a car that has done a couple of winters on this stretch of I-95, that usually means correcting chip damage and salt etching first. We decontaminate and inspect every car under proper lighting and tell you honestly what the paint needs.

Because we are a collision repair facility, the harder cases stay here. A chip through to primer, a bumper resprayed elsewhere, a panel that genuinely needs repainting before film — done in this building on a cure schedule we control. If a filmed car takes a hit later, we repair the panel and reinstate the film properly.
